Charming rustic mountain retreat in southern Andalucia, Spain.

A WEEK OF svastsa yoga and hill walking with jane craggs
october 14-21st 2017

Breath deeply and reconnect with nature!

Finca Montana sits just inland from the southern Spanish coast, in a privileged position on the edge of the natural park, nestled in the foothills of Almijara and Tejeda mountain ranges. Yet this natural paradise is only 40mins from Malaga and its international airport. Surrounded by forests giving much needed shade, it also benefits from sea breezes and the coolness of being 640m altitude.

Its superb location brings together the beauty and tranquillity of the surrounding landscape, with the vibrant and typically Spanish atmosphere found in the nearby whitewashed villages. This venue really encapsulates what rural traditional Spain is all about.

Little rustic paths criss-cross the 2 acres of wonderful gardens, allowing glimpses through the pine trees of the spectacular wide ranging views. From the main Finca the sea can been seen shimmering in the distance between the majestic Sierras.

You will be looked after by Jane the yoga teacher, Alex from Viva and the very charming English venue owners. So you can just relax and expect the fuss free, yet professional service that we have become well known for!

YOUR YOGA WITH JANE CRAGGS

Jane Craggs has been our close friend for over 25 years and was a huge inspiration for starting Les Passeroses. Having hosted for her many retreats in the UK, France and Morocco since 2000, we are thrilled to have her teach and host for Viva Retreats for the first time at Finca Montana.
Yoga will take place in the morning and evening, usually on the lovely yoga lawn or on the massage and meditation deck, a wooden deck furnished with Moroccan rugs and ornaments, set under a large Algarrobo tree, with views to the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains. If it is a little chilly you will practice inside the main finca or at a yoga studio close by which is also owned by the venue.

MORE ABOUT THE finca

The accommodation is divided between two converted Fincas - traditional Spanish farmhouses - and three luxury log cabins. The main Finca and smaller Fina Pequeno sit either side of the wonderful heated pool and outdoor dining area. The views from here of the surroundings are superb and the covered dining terrace truly is a lovely place for the group to dine on the wonderful vegetarian food.

The indoor dining room can seat 20 people, and has large mirador windows with views to the sea and the mountains. The dining room has its own wood burner and has two sofas by the fire for relaxing and reading a book borrowed from the extensive library.

Of course here it all about being outdoors in that fabulously clean and fresh mountain air! At night the sky is lit with thousands of clear stars, there is no light pollution up here. Dotted amongst the grounds are hidden seating areas and decking, including a hammock deck in Moroccan style, all providing space and privacy for relaxing and enjoying the pure silence of this location.

THE ACCOMODATION

The week starts from 5pm on arrival day and you need to leave by 10.30am on departure day. Aim for an early afternoon flight arrival. We are happy to help you with travel and timing suggestions, including if you wish to arrive earlier or later and stay nearby or in fabulous Malaga!
