a superb country setting for this yoga venue that is exclusive to viva retreats.
authentic french country elegance, from suites complete with roll-top baths, to the cosy library, to the YOGA BARN WITH UNDERFLOOR HEATING.

The setting for this house is one that we know very well, as our own centre - Les Passeroses - is just 20 minutes north of  Maison De La Vaure - or MDLV.
Rolling countryside, massive skies and fields of sunflowers and corn are what you are surrounded by. Le Grande Maison - the main house - was built for the owners of the Cognac estate and it is typical of a country residence of standing. The imposing warm stone facade, large windows and high ceilings made to show off the wealth of its owners.

The new owners have breathed new life into this building and several others that make up the estate. Keeping the many original features, they have cleverly and subtly updated the interiors to the standard of a boutique hotel. The grand reception rooms are found off the large and imposing hallway with its oak staircase. A gorgeous formal sitting room with marble fireplace is now softened with velours and updated fabrics. A snug leads off the sitting room.

Across the hallway is a wonderful dining room with local stone fireplace, a matching chandelier to the sitting room and a gorgeous dining table with very comfortable seating for 12. There is a door with direct access to the kitchen. Off the dining room is a library chill out room, which is panelled and has the air of a Gentleman's Club. Here your guests can sink into a comfortable sofa or read a book of the shelves in a leather armchair.

The Yoga Room has been transformed from a former barn, and as you can see, the wonderful oak roof structure remains. It is all mod cons at floor level though, with underfloor heating should it be needed and a full array of yoga equipment. Apart from the practicalities, this room has a wonderful calm feeling to it and light floods in from the large French windows which face towards the pool area. Many original features have been retained so that - as with all other parts of the property - the authenticity and solidity of the building shine through. A feeling that is really beneficial to creating an atmosphere that allows your students to get the most out of your yoga teaching.

There is a toilet in the next room, save going to the houses!

The pool area is just great! The pool itself being really large at 12 x 6 meters, is also luxuriously heated and salt water cleaned - so chlorine free swimming even in cooler months means option to plan yoga holidays in early Spring and late Autumn.

Surrounded by plenty of loungers and some day beds, this is the place to hang out on sunny days for your guests!

There is a pool shower room and toilet.

Accommodation is spread between three buildings.

Totalling 9  guest rooms in the Grande Maison - the manor house - and the Petit Maison - the cottage, 7 rooms have private bathrooms, two rooms share the final bathroom.
There is a further building - the Longere - but this is currently only suitable for the teacher and assistants for reason which I can discuss with you.

Overall the rooms are all on the large size and ceilings are high, so this gives a great sense of space. Guests will feel they have plenty of private space whilst also not being too spread out, which is great for group cohesion.

LE GRAND MAISON has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms - as follows -

Two Master Suites - the French and the Emperor - with large double beds only.
Both huge 35m2 rooms feature a roll top bath, along with luxury en suite bathrooms and large double beds. They both have wonderful views out over the stunning countryside and high ceilings. French has the bath in the bedroom, with en suite shower room as well, while Emperor has the rolltop in the bathroom along with separate shower.
The Tower Suite - either a double bedded or twin bedded room - features part of the original spiral staircase to a now lost tower, along with a stunning en suite bathroom also with roll top bath.
There are two further charming bedrooms of 15m2 each on this first floor.
The Beams Room can be set either with two single beds or a kingsize double bed, whilst Courtyard View is a twin only - both rooms share a large 11m2 bathroom just a few steps along a corridor.
On the ground floor, the Garden Room of 21m2 has two double beds and a private bathroom which is not en suite, but just a few steps away along what is essentially it's private corridor.

LE PETIT MASION is a charming cottage with 2 or 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, and also benefits from having its own large kitchen/dining room and separate sitting room -

Two charming 22m2 rooms have double beds and en suite bathrooms. There are original features such as exposed stonework and oak roof beams.
One of these bedrooms has a smaller room of 7.2m2 off the bedroom that can be used as a third single bedroom with a standard double bed. Note that access to the bathroom is through the main bedroom, but this makes it very suitable for twin sharers who want separate bedrooms, double beds but don't mind sharing a bathroom.

FLOOR PLANS ARE AVAILABLE TO HELP YOU VISUALISE THE LAYOUT OF ALL THE HOUSES.

THE PACKAGE

MDLV is a venue that is rented from the owners as accommodation, it is not a full time yoga holiday centre and as such has no full time staff. One of the owners may or may not be on site, but there will always be someone there to meet you on arrival and show you around. There are English speaking people who are in charge of maintenance and in case of any problem.

Viva will organise your booking with the owners, assist you with pricing, room allocations, transfers and any other info you need. There is a wonderful local catering company who specialise in healthy food from which I have a number of food packages available, designed for yoga holidays. I will liaise and organise with them on your behalf if you require their services.

Of course you may wish to cater yourself. In this case I can also provide you with information about where to purchase ingredients.

You hire MDLV directly from the owners and a separate fee is payable for Viva's services. Catering is also payable directly to the caterer, but I organise all these payments and invoices for you.

Please contact me by filling out the Teacher Form for more info, pricing, booking terms and availability for this wonderful venue.
